birds of a feather by mudmonkey birds of a feather by mudmonkey
clay- kinda figurative- i dunno really what else to say...it's part of a series that i called the "nesting series"....they were all little bird type thingies on top of bird houses. Like "hardboiled" [link] .

birds of a feather by ~mudmonkey Whimsical is the adjective that comes to mind when looking at this sculpt! I dare anyone not to smile at the expressions on these "Birds of a Feather". ( Featured by LabyrinthCreations )

This reminds me of the 1932 (I think?) movie 'freaks'. The main female is transformed into something similar to this :D

Wonderful work!

I get that comparison from time to time. It makes sense. The hood look. I certainly had the book when i was a kid so it isn't a stretch to think that it influenced my work.
Thanks!

I've always really enjoyed mixing animals together. These little birds are about the most mixed up things I've made in that sense.
thanks!

I am asked that question a lot. I wish I had a good answer. Most of the time I just get ideas from things that are happening in my life. And I draw a LOT!

If you are a fan of Scott Radke why don't you mention these works are inspired by him.
It really enjoys me when I see works that are heavily inspired by other artists ( in your case Scott radke, Kevin Titzer and Meredith Dittmar) and there is no mention of the original artists ore the pieces on with the works are based on.
I do think you are talented. I like your use of colour and the way you paint your sculptures but please mention your sources of inspiration.

It's only funny that you think I was inspired by them because all those folks are quite a bit younger than me(and I have no idea who Meredith Dittmar is). Like saying Picasso was inspired by Basquiat. I don't say that they were inspired by them because they aren't. It's incredibly rude of you to basically deliver a thinly veiled "copy cat" statement.
Scott and Kevin were in grade school when some of these pieces were made. Check your info before making accusations (or just keep your rudeness to yourself). Ironically neither of those guys would ever be so rude.

Scott Radke was born in 1970 and Kevin Tizer was born in 1972. I did do my research, but if I am wrong, I will take it back and I am sorry.

hey...turns out you're right. They are my age. I thought they were both younger.
You should write them an email and let them know that I'm "copying" their work.
I'm certain they will find it entertaining.
Thanks again for interjecting some negativity into my otherwise nice day.
